Aquatic Nuisance Species are non-indigenous species that thrive in bodies of water along with the natural species. The name mainly signifies that they are species who threatens the diversity of other species and disrupts the ecological processes in the commercial sector or agricultural activities done in the waters. They cause problems since may spread so rapidly that they cause unanticipated biological and economic impacts too. In fact, legislation has partaken in the preventive actions such as having hearing regarding the issue. An example of aquatic nuisance specie is the Caulerpa. It is known also for being a killer alga that grows in areas where there are no natural predators. Other examples include Zebra Mussels, Eurasian Watermilfoil, and Brittle Naid.
In some states, they have aquatic nuisance species management that contains guidelines on how to deal with these kinds of species especially if they are growing in number. The actions include removing all the species that have been found out in the water, draining the place where they are living including the live well or bait bucket, disposing all the species gathered, and reporting them to the proper authorities. The prevention and control of the species are different from one state to another but the main purpose is to eliminate them. Some have released brochures and ads to inform the population regarding the information the people must know.
Therefore, through the cooperation of the people and following of the rules and regulations in handling these aquatic nuisance species, success would be just within reach.
